CTA - FAQ

There appears to be a little confusion among some players about the Reinforcements format and the Escalation format.  I'll try and break it down, like MC Hammer would have once done.  Now wait a moment while I get my parachute pants and flatop on, and we can 'Break it Down' and work out how 'Legit' our lists are. (Mine, for example, are 2 Legit 2 Quit.  Ahem.)

REINFORCEMENTS: As you are aware most of the Steamroller scenarios do not have Reinforcements.  Therefore it would be safe to assume, that you will at maximum be playing one reinforcement scenario per day.  This means you will likely be playing 3x 33pt games without Reinforcements on Saturday, and 2x 42pt games without Reinforcements on Sunday.
Of course there may not be any Reinforcement scenarios at all, and I'm just messing with you.  I dont even know what the scenarios are yet.

Some people seemed to be under the illusion that every game would involve Reinforcements.  This is not the case.

ESCALATION FORMAT:  You may make one change per list when going from your 33pts to your 42pt lists.  If you choose to make that one change in your 7pts of Reinforcements, you are welcome to do so, but that means you cant make any changes in your 'core' lists, meaning that every model in your 33pts will have to be in your 42pts.  So you only make it harder on yourself by removing that flexability

CHARACTER RESTRICTIONS:  Despite the fact that List A (for example Mortenebra) is changing from 33 to 42 points, they are considered variations on the same list.  As a result, you cannot have Tartarus in List A at 33 points, then shift him over to List B (for example Terminus) at 42 points.

Any further questions or clarifications, please just ask.  I'd rather sort it out now so that I don't have unhappy gamers on the day.  This is also laid out in digital black and white in the players pack.  I cant make you read it, but it does allow me to redistribute blame if someone screws up their lists :)

Bear in mind.  If your lists break the rules, all your results will become 'losses'.  I unfortunately had to do this last year at CTA to someone, so I'd hate for it to happen again.

Stop.

  1. Everything here makes perfect sense except the first part about parachute pants and your haircut.

  2. Why? They make me feel comfortable on my soapbox, zero restriction and plenty of breathing room in parachute pants. Seriously, not only are the warm, but they also make a fashion statement. And as for my haircut, what is wrong with making the effort to look good for my fellow gamers?
